Click on the title of this blog; "Spying on America," to read U.S. News & World Report article that details and documents our government spying on our own citizens for things like:
Domestic spying, through the use of Homeland Security funds has been used to target a county executive, a state representative, Congressman and (complaints from) at least one Governor, environmentalists. 'vegeterian activists' handing out antimeat leaflets in front of a HoneyBaked Ham store, religious organizations of various beliefs, antiwar protesters, union activists, library patrons surfing the Web, all web surfers, bicycle-rider at rallies, striking Safeway workers, gun owners.
So-called PTE's -- "potential threat elements" (groups) -- identified, in some states, like in Texas, over 2,000 groups within the state identified as possible threats; all this with the use of Homeland Security funds or money from the Dept. of Justrice,
California Anti-Terrorism Information Center, a $7 million fusion center run by the state Department of Justice Mike Van Winkle, then a spokesman for the center, explained his concern to the Oakland Tribune: "You can make an easy kind of a link that, if you have a protest group protesting a war where the cause that's being fought against is international terrorism, you might have terrorism at that protest. You can almost argue that a protest against [the war] is a terrorist act."
Therefore, based on recent polls, it would seem that 64% of the American people are potential terrorits.
One person (State Representative Mary Liz Holberg, a Minnesota Republican who oversees privacy issues, was classified as a "suspect" based on a neighbor's old complaint about where she parked her car.
All this is part of what President Bush has done with his warrentless, illegal, unapproved, so-called: Domestic Terrorist Survivance Program."
He should be on the list, that's for sure, since he has undermined our fundenmental principles and constitutional rights, as well as destroyed internation relationships and orgranizations, attempting to pervert them into tentacles of US capatalistic imperialism.
I should note, BTW, as a good citizen attempting to use our (flawed) democracy, I not only vote every election but also lobby my state and federal representatives. On this specific issue, which also had personal reasons, NOT ONE OF MY STATE OR FEDERAL OFFICIALS IN ARIZONA, EVEN REPLIED, AT ALL, IN ANY WAY, TO MY CONCERNS. (about six emails over a six month period).
They, also, really deserve to be put on any "anti-American list."
No one in my family, friends, or associates has ever proposed something like: Burning the American Flag. In fact,
we were hoping to proudly fly it. But it looks like we'll have to send it out to the laundrymat first.
